ABOUT DERRICK

Meet Pastor Derrick: Derrick’s journey into ministry began at the age of 16. After following that calling and training under the leadership of his home church, he has dedicated his life to serving others. In June 2018, he joined our family as Lead Pastor, driven by a singular passion: to help people and exalt the name of Jesus Christ.

Family & Life: In 2007, Derrick married his wife, Allison. Their story began a year earlier on a blind date at Chili’s and a bowling alley. That night, Derrick didn’t just win Allison’s heart—he also bowled his highest score ever! They initially swapped email addresses just so Allison could send him a photo of the scoreboard, but that exchange led to a beautiful life together.

Today, they are the proud parents of four children:

Caroline: A talented artist who loves music, dancing, and dreaming of a career in hair and makeup.
Lottie: A sweet and graceful ballet lover who enjoys following in her big sister’s footsteps.
Charlie: The family comedian with a “mean fastball” and a curiosity for everything.
Colt: The quintessential little brother who is adored by everyone and always brings the fun. He’s really into 3D printing right now too.

Education & Interests: Derrick is committed to lifelong learning to better serve the church. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of West Georgia, an MDiv and MA in Biblical Counseling from Luther Rice Seminary, and recently earned his Doctor of Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

When they aren’t at church, the family loves being outdoors or visiting theme parks—DollyWood is currently their favorite destination.
