Join us for an impactful mission trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, in early November 2027. This document outlines the essential details, ministry objectives, financial estimates, and travel requirements for our upcoming journey.

Ministry Details & Partnerships

Our team will be engaging in multi-faceted ministry work across the city, partnering with both international missionaries and local church leaders.

• IMB Missionaries: We will partner with International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries stationed in the City Center. Our primary activities will include prayer walking and other strategic initiatives, potentially focusing on outreach and engagement with local university students.
• Local Church Partnerships: We are blessed to partner with three thriving churches in the greater Buenos Aires area:

• Pastor Javier: Leads two of our partner churches.
• Pastor Octavio: Leads the third partner church.

Financial Information

The total estimated cost for the trip ranges from $3,000 to $3,500. We will participate in many fundraisers to help offset the cost for all team members. Please review the table below for a detailed breakdown of what is and is not covered by this estimate.

Travel Requirements & Logistics

Please ensure all travel documents are prepared well in advance of our departure date.

• Passport: A valid passport is required for entry into Argentina. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond our return date.
• Vaccines: No specific vaccines are required for this trip.
• Physical Expectations & Local Transit: Prepare for a lot of walking and long days of travel by subway and van to reach various ministry locations across the city.
• Optional Excursion: Depending on the team’s schedule and interest, we may take an additional excursion by ferry to Colonia, Uruguay. Please note that this will be at an additional cost to the primary trip estimate.

Cultural & Culinary Expectations

Buenos Aires boasts a rich culinary heritage heavily influenced by European immigration.

• Spice Tolerance: The local palate generally prefers savory but mild flavors. They do not typically use or enjoy highly spicy foods.
• Local Cuisine Profile: The cuisine of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a rich blend of Spanish and Italian cooking styles, built upon a foundation of world-famous local beef. The culinary scene pairs rustic outdoor grilling with comforting European-style pastas, hearty sandwiches, and irresistible caramel-filled sweets.

The Main Event: Meat and Grilling

• Asado: The famous Argentine barbecue, where cuts of beef, pork, and sausages are grilled over wood or charcoal.
• Parrilla: Refers to both the metal grill used for the asado and the steakhouses where locals eat.
• Choripán: A popular street food featuring grilled chorizo sausage on crusty bread, usually topped with chimichurri.
• Milanesa: A thin, breaded, and fried beef or chicken cutlet resembling schnitzel. It is often topped with tomato sauce and melted cheese (a la Napolitana).

Italian and Spanish Influences

• Pizza and Fainá: Brought by Italian immigrants, Buenos Aires pizza features a thick crust and massive amounts of cheese. It is almost always paired with fainá, a crispy chickpea flour flatbread.
• Pasta and Gnocchi: Homemade pastas are deeply embedded in the local culture, including the tradition of eating ñoquis (gnocchi) on the 29th of every month.
• Empanadas: Baked or fried pastries stuffed with savory fillings, most commonly seasoned minced beef, chicken, or ham and cheese.
• Provoleta: A thick slice of provolone cheese grilled until melted, seasoned with herbs, and eaten as an appetizer.

• Dulce de Leche: A thick, sticky caramel made from heated milk used in almost every Argentine dessert.
