Day 5: The Reward of Humility
Devotional: Humility is not just a sacrifice; it is also a reward. When we humble ourselves and put others’ needs before our own, we become more like Christ. We build deeper relationships and become more effective in our witness for Him. Paul understood this and was willing to pay the price for the sake of the Gospel. He became all things to all people to save some, adapting to the needs and circumstances of those he was trying to reach. This kind of humility is challenging but incredibly rewarding. Today, let’s reflect on the rewards of humility in our own lives. Are we willing to pay the price? Are we willing to let go of our pride and our rights for the sake of the Gospel?
Verse: To the weak I became weak, in order to win the weak. I have become all things to all people, so that I may by every possible means save some. 23 Now I do all this because of the gospel, so that I may share in the blessings.
Christian Standard Bible (Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers, 2020), 1 Co 9:22–23.
Question: Are you willing to let go of your pride and your rights for the sake of the Gospel?
Prayer: Lord, help me to understand the rewards of humility and to be willing to pay the price. Give me the strength to let go of my pride and my rights for the sake of the Gospel. Help me to become all things to all people so that I might save some. Amen.
